How to Research a Power Leveling Company
|
Many MMORPG gamers are anxious to enter the higher, more challenging levels of role-playing games. However, this takes a lot of time and effort. Here is where the power leveling companies enter the picture. Learn how to protect yourself! By Rob Bartlett The easiest way for MMORPG gamers to protect themselves is to research the power leveling company they are planning to place their order with. 1. Avoid websites that go out of their way to remain anonymous. If you are only given an e-mail address or an instant messenger ID, you should think twice about dealing with them. 2. Use WHOIS info to get additional information about the power leveling service. There are several different WHOIS providers. Try doing a WHOIS search for AAAInternet.com (the website of the Canadian company that founded PGMx) and you will see that they have been registered since 1998. If the registrar you try does not give you the contact details, it may provide a link to the appropriate registrar. If the power leveling service you are considering is registered anonymously, that is another red flag! Some WHOIS links: a. http://who.godaddy.com/whoischeck.aspx b. http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp c. http://resellers.tucows.com/whois/index_html If you do your research, you may be able to catch the power leveling company in a lie. Does it claim to be a US business? Does it claim to have been in business for several years? If they are going to lie about this, why would you trust them with your game account? 3. Look for fake feedback. It is common for shady companies to create feedback for themselves, to make it look like they are a legitimate company. Watch for broken English and for comments that read more like a sales pitch than actual client feedback. Also read responses to negative feedback (if there is any). 4. Do they lie about offering a secure server? It is common for shady services to claim that they have a secure server to try and convince you that they are safe. You can easily tell if they are on a secure server, because when you send your data, you can see a little lock on the bottom right hand side of your browser window, right beside the globe icon (Internet Explorer). If there is no lock, the page is not secure. At PGMx, your game account passwords are never stored online, so there is no risk of them being hacked from the server. 5. Do they lie about merchant certifications? It is common for shady power leveling services to show images for various merchant certifications/accomplishments to try and gain your trust. A gamer can easily tell if they are legitimate, because normally you can click on the image to see proof of this certification. If you cannot click on the image, it is probably fraudulent. * HOW TO PROTECT YOUR GAME ACCOUNT * 1. Choose a power leveling company you know you can trust. Avoid anonymous gaming services. Select a company like PGMx that takes significant precautions to protect your account. 2. Change your game account password often, especially before/after using power leveling services or sharing your account details. Use auto-complete and/or a utility that helps remember your passwords to help protect against keyloggers. Make sure that the service you are using does not store passwords on its server. 3. Check your computer for viruses/spyware often. 4. Lately, the game publisher for World of Warcraft has been watching for account sharing. If you share your account details with a power leveling company you can't trust, you risk your account being suspended or banned. PGMx offers a custom software solution to prevent detection of account sharing and keep your account safe. 5. Learn to use the password recovery tool for your online game before you place your order. If you ever suspect that there is a security issue with your game account, immediately use the tool to change your password. * ACCOUNTABILITY, HONESTY, AND TRUST * PGMx: http://www.pgmx.com - Providing power leveling services for World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Dark Age of Camelot, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Eye-Online, EverQuest2, Final Fantasy XI, Guild Wars, Knight Online, Lineage 2, Matrix Online, Rising Force (RF) Online, Star Wars Galaxies, and Ultima Online.
