Men like to chase; they like to win battles. If you portray an image of being ready and open for them, then they are not as interested. Women are up to ten times more receptive to body language than men are, which is why some women become exasperated that the guy cannot take notice of her 'obvious' signals. However, with some practice, you can learn to use the kind of subtle signals that they do notice, which can create a strong bond between you and get them to act just the way you want them to. How you sit, where you sit, where you look, and how you use your arms and your eyes can make the difference between a date that is awkward and going poorly to a date where that 'magic' seems to become like electricity in the air. Watch others as they talk to each other. You can tell when a woman is closed off from a man. She sits slumped back, her arms crossed and head tilted down. Any posture that looks like you are blocking the man from knowing you is sending a hostile message to the guy. To give the message that he has your full attention and that you find him interesting, use a slight smile and lean forward towards him and he will hear that message loud and clear. Pay attention to your hands; are they at your side or on the table as if reaching towards him? If you do that, you are signaling that he can come to you for friendship and love. If you then turn your palms upwards, it shows openness as well. As the night progresses, take every opportunity to touch him 'accidentally'. Grab hold of him to steady yourself, touch his hand as he gives you a drink, or anything you can think of that does not give away you are doing it on purpose. This gives a sense of intimacy and lowers barriers between you both. You can whisper in his ear; this is an incredibly intimate thing to do, yet when you are talking about something to do with the couple behind you etc., it looks perfectly innocent. He will not be able to resist you after that! Another way to create a subconscious connection is to mirror his posture subtly. It is well known that we tend to mirror the body language of people when we are in agreement with them. Therefore, if he has his hands on the table, you gently put yours on the table; if he likes to play with his glass, then you do too. You need to be careful to do it subtly; make sure you don't copy him straight away, or he will feel you are mocking him! However, with practice you can ease yourself into his good books by appearing to be the same as him, so that he feels more comfortable with you. Echoing is using the same method in how you speak. Listen to his expression, his accent, and the way he constructs his sentences. Then over the course of the evening, in tiny ways, start to use his speech patterns when you speak to him. If you are using his catch phrases, his style of speaking, and even a soft version of his accent, that creates a virtual 'family' feel in your friendship that opens the door for romance naturally and subconsciously. These little tricks of the trade are proven methods for lowering the barriers to true romance and getting that guy to open up to you so you can get to know him. And by being a clever companion to him, you are learning to make him better for you, even when he doesn't know you are doing it.
