Acne is not something that you need to learn to live with. With a little understanding and care, you can easily get rid of this major skin problem. Here are some easy ways to stop acne.

• Understand Acne

If you really want to get rid of acne, you must know something about it. Get to the root of this problem. A bacterium lives on our skin. It is known as 'P acnes'. This bacterium does not do any harm to the human body.

However, it loves to multiply in a warm place full of sebum. This action results in acne. The sebaceous gland is the best place for the bacteria in acne to develop. Here, the bacteria multiplies. As soon as the white cells kill the bacteria, you notice a pus-filled area.

• Stop Acne from Developing

You must treat the whiteheads and the blackheads immediately. Use either Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid for this. Both these elements will work towards unclogging the gland. You may speak to your doctor about using tretinoin. You may also use AHAs around the affected area in order to remove dead cells faster.

• Consult a Doctor

Visit a dermatologist and ask if it would be wise to use a mild antibiotic with other topical treatments that you are currently using.

• Follow Good Hygiene

Make sure that you keep your hands clean. Always wash your face with a good acid-balanced cleanser or any other AHA-based cleanser. Never over clean your skin. Just clean it twice or thrice a day. Don't even think of touching the spots. Touching will infect them. Do not remove the comedones. Consult your doctor if you need to do so.

• Organic Soaps

Do not use harsh chemical-based soaps. You must go for organic soaps. These will be lighter on acne.

• Stress

Stress is the main booster of acne. You can easily handle your stress levels by getting involved in exercises such as yoga, running, weight training, etc. These activities will maintain your skin and help you to stay in shape.

• Cosmetic Analysis

Use of chemical- and oil-based cosmetics will aggravate acne. Go for organic products. These are widely available. Once you use them, make sure that you wash your face thoroughly.

• Diet

Diet does not affect your acne much, but eating healthy will help you get rid of the excessive toxins that are created in the body due to unhealthy food patterns.

• Birth Control Pills

Using birth control pills can actually lead to acne. If you have acne and use birth control pills, try to shift to different birth control pills.

• Exfoliate Skin Regularly

Exfoliating works towards eliminating unwanted dead cells from your skin. Make sure that you are gentle with your skin when exfoliating it. Talk to your dermatologist about suggesting a good exfoliating product that'll be suitable for your skin type.

• Buy a Cleansing Toner

Look for a cleansing toner that can be used on a daily basis. This will keep your skin free of bacteria. Use cotton balls to clean your face. Don't be too harsh.
