 You Can Make Easy Money with a Popular and Trusted Website

   By Kathy Steinemann

You've likely seen the phrase 'easy money' zillions of times on the Net. Pooh! But guess what? This IS really easy, and within minutes you can start earning money from a website that you probably already use, like, and trust. Intrigued? Keep reading!

No, this is not an article about Google AdSense or some other pay-per-click or pay-per-impression program. It concerns an easy-to-implement system for blogs, article directories, link directories, or any kind of website that uses a common template for pages. You can also use it on homegrown websites that are individually coded, but it takes a little longer to install.

Self-proclaimed get-rich-quick entrepreneurs offer 'effortless' ways for you to make 'thousands of dollars overnight'. Do you really believe them? Do not get sucked into the hype. What I am about to describe IS effortless, genuine, and within a very short time you can start earning cash through an established website that has been on the Net since the mid-1990s. Intrigued? Keep reading this article for more information.

Would it excite you if I told you that you can add a small fragment of JavaScript to the bottom of your web pages, and from then on, you can automatically earn a percentage of sales based on the keywords already in the text of your site? You do not have to do any extra work - no editing keywords or fussing with design elements - exactly the same JavaScript fragment on every page.

If you have not figured it out yet - the program is offered by Amazon.com.

Within minutes you can register for the Amazon affiliate program, copy and paste your personalized JavaScript code, and soon afterwards you will be able to see little clickable 'links' on your website. Mousing over these links reveals featured books, DVDs or other merchandise. You choose the colors; you decide if you want the links to open in a new page; you decide exactly what you want to sell (everything? only books? strictly computing, electronics, and office equipment? hardware and automotive? or everything that Amazon offers).

Sign-Up and Installation Procedures

  • 1. Carefully choose the e-mail address associated with your affiliate account. If you use the same address that you already have on file at Amazon for purchases, the e-mail address will be linked to all the North American and European Amazons, and password changes will take effect for all your accounts.

  • 2. If you already have an affiliate account, proceed to the next step. Otherwise, register with Amazon by finding the 'Join Associates' link near the bottom of the Amazon site.

  • 3. Use the 'Select Locale' fly out menu near the top right hand corner to choose the specific Amazon site that makes the most sense for your user base. For example, if your audience is mostly North American, use 'United States' or 'Canada'. If you are based in the UK, select 'United Kingdom'.

  • 4. After registering, click on the following sequence:

    Tools ... Build Links ... Context Links

  • 5. Carefully examine all the options. Click on the 'Advanced Settings' link if you want to choose the types of merchandise offered.

  • 6. Copy and paste the code from the text box near the bottom of the Amazon page into your templates, footer files, or individual website pages. Make sure that the code appears just before the closing 'body' tag.

    Questions?

    Amazon has a comprehensive 'Context Links FAQ' that will fully answer most questions.

    More Information and Tips

  • You can disallow any portion of a page. Just place the following code around the portion of text that you want to exclude:

    <!--Amazon_CLS_EM_START-->

    Excluded text that WILL NOT DISPLAY CONTEXT LINKS goes here.

    <!--Amazon_CLS_EM_END-->

  • You can specifically 'allow' only certain portions of a page by surrounding text with the following code:

    <!--Amazon_CLS_IM_START-->

    Included text that WILL DISPLAY CONTEXT LINKS goes here.

    <!--Amazon_CLS_IM_END-->

    *** Do not use exclude and include tags on the same page. ***

  • Unlike AdSense and other contextually based advertising programs, the Amazon content does not display the first time you access a page. You may notice a delay of several minutes to several hours before the first ads begin to appear. On my websites, it took about 15 minutes. A page must be accessed a few times before Amazon decides that it is a 'worthwhile' page to spider. As a result, your highest traffic pages will be the first to show context ads.

  • You should not experience load delays, because you install the Amazon code at the bottom of each page. This means that the code loads and does its formatting after a browser has displayed everything else on the page.

  • Amazon's spider monitors the frequency of updates on your website's pages. Once it calculates a pattern, it spiders on a matching schedule so that new content is spidered and linked.

    The Amazon code actually adds informative content to your site, without annoying banner ads or irritating 'in your face' techniques. If you want to see how it works, visit the sites in the author's resource box and read some of the newer articles.

    So, what do you have to lose? This takes only a few minutes to install. The higher your website traffic, the more likely you are to earn cash. Place the code on your pages, and then forget it while you work to increase the number of quality visitors to your site.
